Daniel Velasco is an award-winning Colombian composer, honored twice with the Macondo Award by the Colombian Academy of Motion Pictures. His work spans numerous acclaimed film productions, including La Otra Forma(nominated at the ANNECY Festival and winner at the prestigious SITGES Festival), Nacimiento de Martín Mejía(winner of the Tridents First Features Competition – Best Film and the FIPRESCI Award for Best Debut Film in Tallinn), Aislados (Best Documentary at The Colombian Film Festival in New York City), and La Semilla del Silencio.

His television credits include Garzón, directed by Sergio Cabrera, and the first season of Netflix’s Siempre Bruja.

Velasco has collaborated with world-class orchestras such as the Hollywood Studio Symphony, Deutsches Filmorchester, Bratislava Symphony Orchestra, and the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. Internationally, his film work extends to productions in Germany (Zeche Is Nich), the United States (Abrazo), and El Salvador (La Palabra de Pablo and El Suspiro del Silencio).

Since 2020, he has served as a professor at the Universidad de Los Andes, specializing in film music and orchestration. He holds a Master’s degree in Film Music from the Filmuniversität Konrad Wolf in Germany (2011), a Bachelor’s degree in Composition from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia (2004, with honors), and was a fellow of the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop with Richard Bellis in Los Angeles (2013).
