Daniel Alberto Velasco is an award-winning composer whose evocative scores have resonated with audiences in nearly 200 countries. Known for his versatility and global perspective, Velasco's music bridges the gap between traditional orchestral grandeur and contemporary cinematic storytelling.


His filmography is highlighted by the acclaimed animated feature The Other Shape (La Otra Forma), which earned Best Animated Feature honors at the Sitges Film Festival and was an Official Selection at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival. His work on the thriller The Seed of Silence (La Semilla Del Silencio) further cemented his reputation, featuring a powerful score recorded with the Hollywood Studio Symphony. Velasco's reach extends into the world of streaming, with his music featured on the global Netflix hit Always a Witch (Siempre Bruja).


A two-time Macondo Award winner - the highest honor from the Colombian Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences - Velasco has been recognized twice for Best Original Score. His craft has been refined through elite industry programs, including the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in Los Angeles and the Film Music Composition Lab in Mexico City. An expert in orchestral collaboration, he has recorded with world-class ensembles such as the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg and the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra.


Velasco holds a Master of Music in Film Scoring from the Filmuniversität Konrad Wolf Babelsberg in Germany and graduated with honors from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Currently, he shares his expertise with the next generation of composers as a professor at the prestigious Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá.
